What week is it?

This week is National Wildlife Week. It is also Administrative Professionals Week, Coin Week, and Cowboy Poetry Week.
We celebrate Innovation Week, National Park Week, and National Karaoke Week. The list goes on:  National Window Safety Week, Sky Awareness Week, Fish Fry Week, Heritage Week, Turn Off the TV Week and my personal favorite, National Scoop the Poop Week.

Yet none of these are close to my heart. What is this week to me? This week has been proclaimed by Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard as REALTOR Foundation Awareness Week!  (Yeah! I hear you applauding right now.)

This is what's close to my heart: making people aware of our homeless neighbors. Even though I don't want to use this blog to address each event that benefits the Foundation, what I'm thinking about this week are the kids who are homeless. If the AVERAGE age of a homeless person in this country is nine, that means lots of them are younger than nine. That's just unacceptable in this day and age.
