Here's an interesting stat: $306 billion. That's the amount donated to American charities in 2007--a record amount.  This week's Indianapolis Business Journal reported that although 2007 did not hold the best economic atmosphere for Americans, charitable giving was up.  A full report is published each year by Giving USA and was just released on June 23.
