The Boxes

First they got bad press, then no press at all. Those cardboard-esque boxes placed around downtown Indianapolis designed to encourage passers-by to give to one central entity not to individuals asking for money. I saw one of the boxes the other day and wondered, “is it working”? In an e-mail I asked the folks at the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention for some updated figures, but haven’t heard back yet. Let’s hope no news is good news. I’ll let you know what I find out. Have you ever donated using one of the boxes? They are still out there at these locations:

  • Southeast corner of Georgia and Meridian streets
  • Southeast corner of Illinois and Washington streets
  • Northeast corner of Delaware and Market streets (next to the City Market)
  • Southwest corner of Market and Meridian streets (on the Circle – next to South Bend Chocolate Company)
  • Northwest corner of Maryland and Meridian streets
