Stop Hatin'
I've driven by a car a few times recently with a huge sticker on the back window--it takes up almost the entire width--that says "Stop Hatin' ". It struck me that although it's not exactly how I would say it and it's maybe too simplistic, this phrase does sum up the answer to many problems. So many people are harboring anger these days--from road rage to outright prejudice, and really, life is too short to carry all of that around.
How does this relate to homelessness? Homeless people experience hatred and anger toward them daily. I've written before about crimes against the homeless, so I'm not going to repeat that. But it seems that attitudes can be just as damaging. We could all stand to take "Stop Hatin' " to heart and show compassion for those whose lives we may not understand.
