Counting the Homeless

Major metropolitan areas across the country conduct homeless street counts each year. Why is this important?  It is the only way to determine the number of supportive services needed in each city. In last year's Indianapolis homeless count, we found that the number of street homeless had decreased from previous years.

Yet, this article indicates a national surge in homeless rate throughout the country.  There is a video embedded in the article about the homeless count in New York City that I found interesting. Scroll down to find it in a box on the left side.
